If you, or someone you are helping, are in need of Financial help, you or they may be
eligible under one or more of the programs listing below. You can ask for help by calling
one of the numbers listed on our Home Page or in person at one of
the locations listed on our Home Page. If you are applying for cash assistance or food stamps, you need an interview to go
over forms that you must fill out. When you come, you will need to bring proof of:
MFIP
Who you are.
Where you live.
Information about your family.
Information about your income and what you own.
MFIP is a monthly cash payment. It helps families who have
one or more children under the age of 19, or women who are pregnant.
GA
|
GA is a monthly cash payment. It helps with money for food, housing,
and other basic needs. GA is for people who have little or no income
or are not able to get help from other state or federal programs.
GA is for people who cannot work. |
MSA
| MSA is a monthly cash payment. It helps people whose disability, retirement, or other income is not enough. MSA is for people who are age 65 or older; or disabled and age 18 or older; or blind. |
GRH
| GRH is a monthly cash payment. It pays room and board for some people who cannot live in their own home. GRH is for people who are; age 65 and over; or disabled and age 18 or older; or blind; or unable to work. |
MA
| MA is a federal program that may pay medical bills for people who cannot pay them. MA is for people who are under age 21 or over 65; or are pregnant; or bling; or disabled. MA is also for some parents or caretakers of a child under age 19. If you get MFIP you will also get MA. |
MinnesotaCare
| MinnesotaCare is a state and federal program that helps people who do not have insurance. MinnesotaCare is for single people and families who do not have other health insurance and do not get MA or GAMC. The enrollee must pay a premium each month to access Minnesota Care benifits. |
GAMC
| GAMC is a state program that may pay medical bills for people who cannot pay them. GAMC is for people who cannot get MA and are not getting help from other state or federal medical programs. If you get GA you may also get GAMC. |
Food Support
(formerly known as "Food Stamps")
Food Support is an electronic benefit that is used like money to buy food. The Food Support benefit is for single people or families with or without children. Your income determines how much you get.
